The state of Florida is a hidden gem for summer camping adventures with kids! With over 175 state parks to choose from, our family decided to take on the challenge to explore the diverse landscapes of the Sunshine State. From the sandy beaches of St. Augustine to the lush forests of Manatee Springs, there’s a state park for every type of adventurer. Plus, with year-round warm weather, camping in Florida is the perfect way to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and connect with nature. Now it is extremely hot so lets be real people…COME PREPARED!!! But if you can get passed the muggy scortching heat, its an amazing experience.
Imagine waking up to the sound of waves crashing on the shore or the call of a bald eagle soaring overhead. Picture hiking through a dense forest, spotting alligators and manatees in their natural habitats, and splashing around in crystal clear springs. These are just a few of the experiences that we have had this summer on our camping trips.
We love to take out our paddle boards, and we just bring the kids and the dog and spend our days on the water surrounded by trees and nature. So fare this summer we have explored Manatee Springs, Silver Springs, Wekiwa Springs, Bonnet Springs, Lake Parker Park, and we have a final summer trip planned for the summer at Anastasia State Park.
Now of course we love camping with the boys, but it can also be a challenging experience. To make the most of your trip, it’s essential to plan ahead and bring along all the essentials. Before you hit the road, make a list of all the things you’ll need, from tents and sleeping bags or air mattresses to cooking supplies and first aid kits. It’s also a good idea to bring along some fun activities, like games and books, to keep the kids entertained during downtime.
When it comes to camping with kids, safety is key. Make sure everyone knows the rules and stick to them. Teach the kids how to start a fire safely, how to navigate the terrain, and how to set up a tent. It’s also important to keep an eye on the weather and plan accordingly. Above all, remember that camping is supposed to be fun, so don’t stress too much about the details. Embrace the adventure and enjoy spending quality time with your family in the great outdoors! So pack up your tent and campfire supplies, grab your sunscreen and bug spray, and get ready for a summer of unforgettable adventures in the Sunshine State!
