Well as most of the world knows, we are currently living through a “modern day” pandemic. As Covid-19 or the Corona Virus plummets through the world taking anyone and everyone in its path…we bunker down for safety as if this thing were a category five hurricane. Our country has created “stay at home orders” only essential businesses are open and people are losing their minds fighting over toilet paper. Never in a million years would I think that hunting down toilet paper and paper towels for my household would be a day to day thing for me, nor that when I found said items I would cheer like I won the lotto or something!
All jokes aside this pandemic has brought on so many overwhelming emotions, from fear to anxiety to grief. People are living through a situation that no one in our lifetime has experienced and therefore there is really no handbook for this type of thing. We are all trying our best but it has proven to be very challenging for many.
I have become a first grade teacher over night, all while juggling a toddler and my full and part time jobs, which I am fortunate to still have, never the less it is very overwhelming and exhausting.
I have managed to set schedules to allow for somewhat of a flow and routine to develop in our home, but lets face it momma is a hot mess with not enough coffee.
With the mass chaos around us and the drastic change to our daily lives, I’ve had to start filtering what information I feed myself daily to avoid lossing my shit completely, and filtering what ultimately gets back to my oldest son. We have had a very thorough discussion about the virus and the precautions we have to take to stay safe, but lets face it we all just want our lives back and that the honest truth.
I have found that somewhat of consistency works wonders even if its a “shit-show” but be consistent that gets us through our days. Making sure that the boys get enough exercise and vitamin D is key, we converted our back yard into an inflatable obstacle course with kiddie pool included. We go for daily walks and or run on the treadmill and make sure we are getting all of that energy out which is vital for the boys and for moms mental and physical health.
I stick to my work routine clocking in and out as if I were in my office all while managing my sons school work and my toddler. We have timers and schedules and some days I want to throw the damn towel in because I am seconds away from a mental breakdown….BUT then I stop bath in essential oils (Peace and Calming for the win) and thank God for my families health and safety during these times.
Every day brings new challeges and more anticipation but we are chugging on as best as we can. If your struggling to keep sain during the pandemic and need some ideas on what to do during the day check out my handy list below… You will thank me later!
Let me know what you guys are doing indoors…I’d love to hear from you! Be Well Friends!
